Joe Spud has money. In fact, he has more money than he knows what to do with. His father recently became very, very rich with his invention, "Bum Fresh" a type of toilet paper that is wet on one side and dry on the other.

Although he has everything he could ever want, he is missing one vital thing: a friend.

Walliams takes you on a journey with a boy who just wants a friend and to have a normal life. Along the way he learns important life lessons about being "normal" and after some hardships and sacrifices, he achieves his final goal.
